Whether it’s for your wedding or just a regular photoshoot, having the skills and knowledge to help you choose a good photographer is important! These are memories and pictures you may want to look at for the rest of your life… they may even hang on your walls! So, let’s make sure you have all of the boxes checked when booking a photographer.
1. Price Range:
It’s not always fun to talk money, but let’s get it out of the way first! You have to make sure you have a good budget and can find someone to fit into your price range for photos!
Of course, this budget and price range will look different for everyone, but you have to find what works the best for you!
2. Personality:
You want to make sure that both of your personalities are a good fit (you and the photographer) and that you feel comfortable working together! Remember, you’re taking pictures and shouldn’t feel awkward or afraid when asking questions or requesting certain pictures. This experience should be enjoyable for everyone involved! :)
3. Style:
Preview the photographers’ specific artistic style of editing photos before reaching out to them. Part of choosing the right photographer is also choosing a style that is right for you! Editing is a huge job on the photographer’s end, and every photographer has a different style. In order to avoid any miscommunication about this, preview their work and schedule any calls to discuss style ahead of time. It’s important to have everyone on the same page!
4. Location:
Where do you want the photos to be taken? Is the photographer located near you? Are you willing to travel/are they [the photographer] willing to travel? These are important questions to ask yourself and consider before booking a photographer… it may even open up some different options for you!
When in doubt, always reach out to a potential photographer. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or have a conversation with them! They will be just as excited about the photos and experience as you are!
