First of all, I want to point out that the most important thing is being both comfortable and confident in what you are in. It makes all the difference!
Now, what to AVOID?!
- Neon Bright Colors
- Patterns that clash
- Completely Identical outfits
Why should you avoid those?
Well first, neon is distractingly bright and can cast a haze on your face. I’ve seen bright orange create weird red/orange shadows on faces and it is not flattering.
Clashing patterns. You want your outfits to flow together. If one person is in stripes, another person is in plaid, and another floral, they don’t flow together.
Lastly, all matching outfits are original. But YOU, are not original, and each person is unique. When people wear all of the same thing there is no differentiation. Now I’m not going to say that it’s bad to wear all jeans and white shirts once in a while for a casual look. Just make sure to mix it up and not have everything identical.
Now, what to WEAR?!
It really isn't as daunting as it seems. I always recommend choosing a color pallet to work with that has corresponding tones that blend well together. Also, side note- PINTEREST is your best friend!
Other things to think about...
- Pastels photograph beautiful!
- Neutrals photograph great!
- Earthy tones are always good!
I typically tell the girls to find their favorite outfits that they love and have the boys pick out colors that go well with it. For example, a cute yellow floral dress would look great with khaki pants and a dark blue, grey, green polo! Or in this example below, mom is wearing a patterned dress. Notice how there is a green/blue tone in the dress on the leaves?! She put her daughter in a solid tone matching. Which was PERFECT!
Alright, you got this! You're on your way to perfecting your outfit and it will make all the
difference!
xoxo,
Kaitlyn Anne
